It was a passion for communications, especially toward women, that helped shape and grow the business Kelly Fletcher started nine years ago.
Her hard work and dedication to the craft has resulted in a flourishing company in downtown Knoxville that was recently spotlighted in the latest edition of Cityview. The magazine profiled six successful East Tennessee women entrepreneurs, who started and head up their own communications firm.
“I felt a huge sense of accomplishment being recognized as a mover and shaker in Cityview’s recent issue,” says Kelly. “It was an honor to be interviewed alongside other women in media who I’ve admired for years.”
There was a funny faux pas in her interview, though. The article stated Kelly sold clothes out of her vehicle during the recession to make ends meet. While she did sell clothes via a trunk show format from her office on Sutherland Avenue several times, she fortunately never had to out of her car.
“We all had a good chuckle that ‘trunk show’ was taken so literally,” says Kelly. “As a single mother, failing as an entrepreneur was never really an option for me. Although my ambition was sometimes fueled by fear, I believed that if I kept on trying, success would somehow find me.”
